Balmain Launches Limited Edition Unicorn Phygital Wearable Sneaker as NFT Collection

Balmain, the iconic French fashion house, has recently unveiled a unique collection of limited edition Unicorn Phygital Wearable sneakers, which are available both in physical and digital form as collectible tokens (NFTs).

The fashion house worked closely with Space Runners, a leading creative studio that has previously partnered with prominent firms such as Pantera, Polychain, Jump Capital, and Animoca Brands, to develop this unique collection.

The Unicorn Phygital Wearable collection comprises 130 pairs of shoes, each with its identical physical counterpart. Balmain has presented five unique designs of sneakers, with prices ranging from $1595 to $2095, which buyers can purchase using fiat currency or ETH.

As the boundaries between the physical and digital worlds continue to blur, Balmain is always on the lookout for new opportunities to explore.

According to Balmain’s Marketing Director Txampi Diz, “This collaboration allows us to present this home to a wider audience.” Furthermore, buyers of Balmain’s Unicorn NFT collection will receive early access to future Balmain drops and other exclusive products from the fashion house.

The creative director of Space Runners, Rohan Chhabra, states that the Metaverse and NFTs have become somewhat of a controversial topic. However, they aim to bring Web2 and Web2.5 customers, which represent their most significant potential customer base, into this space.

The Balmain Unicorn NFT collection is currently not compatible with any metaverse gaming platform, but buyers of NFT-enabled sneakers will be able to use them in the Space Runners metaverse, which is scheduled to launch later this year.

Luxury brand Prada released its ninth collection of non-fungible tokens in January, while fashion brand HUGO announced a collaboration with Web 3.0 Imaginary Ones in October to create a collection line of NFTs.

Balmain’s Unicorn NFT collection, along with its physical counterparts, is a unique addition to the growing trend of bridging the gap between fashion and the digital world.
