Bitcoin Core 25.0 Update Enhances Performance and Security

The Bitcoin Core team announced the release of update 25.0, which is designed to improve performance and security.

The Bitcoin Core 25.0 release notice posted on the project’s website states that the update includes new features as well as bug fixes for network systems and performance optimization techniques.

According to the new mempool policy, transactions of size 65 bytes and larger are allowed.

According to the developers, the patch will help strengthen protection against the CVE-2017-12842 vulnerability and open up additional options to use smaller transactions.

In addition, updates to Bitcoin Core 25.0 affected peer-to-peer (P2P) and network modifications, as well as new and updated remote procedure calls (RPC), which will provide fast re-scanning of the wallet (RPC scanblocks).

The project team warns: Bitcoin Core is not recommended for use on unsupported systems.

The project is tested in an operating environment with Linux kernel, macOS 10.15+ and Windows 7+.

Also, Bitcoin Core should work on most Unix-like systems, but is tested on them much less frequently.

Earlier, mining company Marathon Digital and firm Brink announced to start collecting donations to support Bitcoin Core developers.

Donations to the project are expected to top $1 million by the end of the year.
