A resident of the Penza region lost 480,000 rubles while trying to make money on cryptocurrencies

A 50-year-old Russian woman from the village of Lermontovo, Penza region, reported to the police about the loss of 480,000 rubles – it turned out that the woman was trying to make money on cryptocurrencies, but the funds went to fraudsters.

A woman from Lermontovo became interested in investing in digital assets thanks to a messenger ad.. She left her contacts, and soon the woman received a call from an unknown man who promised a simple and fast income from investing in cryptocurrencies. And he threw his would-be victim some kind of website link. A resident of a village near Penza created a digital wallet on a website and transferred 480,000 rubles from her personal bank account to it.. Soon after, the “investment advisor” became unavailable and the victim contacted the police.

There it turned out that the victim had heard about such methods of fraud before, but for some reason could not apply them to her situation in time;

“A criminal case has been opened on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code (Fraud).. The sanction provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to six years,” the Penza Region Interior Ministry reported.

Now law enforcement agencies are trying to establish the identity of the fraudsters.

Not so long ago in the Penza region they found
four underground miners who had teamed up and were stealing electricity to mine cryptocurrencies.
