Coinbase’s top lawyer, RFK jr., and more slam decision to drop second SBF trial

Coinbase’s chief legal officer, Paul Grewal, along with prominent figures like RFK Jr. and Elon Musk, has criticized the decision to drop the second trial against Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of FTX and Alameda Research. The dropped charges included foreign bribery, bank fraud, and unlawful political donations. Grewal called the decision a “miscarriage of justice” and emphasized the importance of a public airing of the charges. RFK Jr., who is running as an Independent in the 2024 presidential race, expressed his concern about the normalization of corruption in response to the dropped charge of unlawful political donations. The crypto community awaits Bankman-Fried’s sentencing, which is currently scheduled for March 28, 2024.
