GEC paid SpaceX with DOGE tokens to postpone the launch of the DOGE-1 satellite

  • SpaceX made history by accepting DOGE as payment to reschedule the launch of the DOGE-1 satellite.
  • Reports indicate that the launch was postponed due to equipment readiness issues.

In an unexpected move, SpaceX agreed to receive payment in DOGE tokens for delaying the launch of the DOGE-1 satellite. The CEO of Geometric Energy Corporation, Samuel Reed, announced this groundbreaking development on his social media platform, X (formerly known as Twitter).

According to media reports, the launch of the DOGE-1 satellite was initially scheduled for 2022. However, the mission faced a delay as the satellite was not fully prepared.

Interestingly, the BitMEX cryptocurrency exchange announced on January 8, 2024, their plan to launch the Vulcan launch vehicle to the Moon. Onboard this vehicle is a physical coin with an access key containing 1 BTC, serving as a cryptocurrency wallet. Unfortunately, the mission encountered setbacks with the Peregrine lunar lander and was on the brink of failure.

It is worth mentioning that SpaceX has been working on the Doge-1 satellite since 2021 but has yet to realize its launch.
