Gemini Exchange prepares to open a new office in India

Gemini, the popular cryptocurrency exchange, has announced that it will be expanding its operations in the Asia-Pacific region by opening a new office in India.

The exchange’s co-founders, Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, have appointed Gemini’s CTO, Pravjit Tiwana, as the chief executive of the Indian division.

Tiwana, who previously worked at Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, and Disney, will be responsible for launching new Gemini products in the region and managing finance.

The new Gemini office will be located in the city of Gurgaon and is expected to become the exchange’s second-largest contact center after the US.

Despite the Indian government’s tough stance on cryptocurrencies, Tiwana expressed confidence in the country’s talent pool in blockchain and cryptocurrencies.

He stated that Gemini plans to hire local employees over time.

Gemini’s management has also announced plans to establish product development teams in India and expand their user base in Singapore by implementing new strategies to attract institutional clients.

This move comes as U.S.-based cryptocurrency exchanges like Gemini and Coinbase seek to explore overseas markets due to regulatory hostility towards the crypto industry.

In related news, Coinbase has also received a license to operate in Bermuda, further expanding its reach in the global market.

Gemini’s decision to enter the Indian market reflects the increasing interest in cryptocurrency in the region, despite regulatory challenges.
