In Dagestan, miners stole 23 million rubles worth of electricity in six months

Rosseti North Caucasus reports that investigative authorities in Dagestan have uncovered six cases of electricity theft by miners since the beginning of 2023. The total amount of losses amounted to 23 million rubles.

“The volume of stolen electricity exceeded 5.7 million kWh. The amount of damage caused to the network complex of the region is estimated at 23 million rubles,” the statement reads.

Now all six cases are under consideration in the investigative bodies. In one of these cases, a criminal case was opened under the article “infliction of property damage by deception or breach of trust”;

Law enforcers found 341 cryptocurrency mining devices on the territory of Dagestan-Etanol LLC in Makhachkala. The volume of illegally consumed energy resources amounted to more than 1.5 million kWh worth 1.5 million rubles.

Earlier, law enforcement authorities of Dagestan reported the discovery and confiscation of 773 mining devices illegally connected to the power grid. The farm was organized by a resident of Novoye Gadari village. And in May last year, police in Makhachkala discovered an underground mining farm with 1,500 ASIC miners.
