US Jury Finds Two Foreign Nationals Guilty in $8M Dark Web Drug Operation Involving Cryptocurrency

A federal jury in Salt Lake City has convicted Oluwole Adegboruwa and Enrique Isong, both foreign nationals, on multiple drug-related charges. Between 2016 and 2019, they managed to amass over $8 million in cryptocurrency, primarily bitcoin and ethereum. Adegboruwa, who operated under the aliases “King Odua” and “Alagbada726,” was responsible for converting the cryptocurrencies into traditional currencies. Sentencing for the duo has been scheduled for August. As part of the conviction, the jury has ordered Adegboruwa to forfeit a sum of $380,396 in cash, a 2017 Dodge Charger, and 26 money orders totaling $9,400. Additionally, he is required to surrender over $15 million worth of cryptocurrency.
