DeFi Project Deus Finance Hacked Again, Loses Over $6 Million in DEI Tokens

DeFi Deus Finance project has another problem – this time hackers managed to find a vulnerability in DEI steblecoin smart contracts and withdrew $1.3 million in BSC network and over $5 million in Arbitrum network.

The vulnerability was discovered in the burnFrom function. Meanwhile, stabelcoin smart contracts were last updated on April 10 of this year.

Community users are wondering why the project didn’t do a code audit before deploying smart contracts.

To protect user funds, the project was able to use “white hatters” and other protocols to return some funds and burn the rest of the DEI tokens so that attackers would not have access to them.

Details of the hack are scarce at the moment, but the developers of Deus Finance have promised to publish a detailed analysis of the incident:

“With the help of ‘white hatters’ and partners, the Deus team halted the contracts and burned DEI to prevent further losses.

We will publish a breakdown and recovery plan in the coming days. Until then, please remain patient and do not interact with DEI contracts.”

Recall that $3 million was stolen from Deus Finance’s master record in March, and the project lost another $13 million last April.
