Starting from next week, users will be able to send tips in TON-based cryptocurrency, whereby the company will retain a 30% commission. Additionally, Telegram will introduce the ability to earn royalties from using usernames and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) created on the TON blockchain. Emojis and stickers, for instance, can serve as NFTs.
Pavel Durov also highlighted that Telegram’s extensive community, with nearly 1 billion active users, already has access to TON Blockchain and Toncoin (TON) tokens for paying targeted advertisements and reinvesting in projects. This decision to utilize TON technology has revolutionized digital advertising and monetization on the platform, according to the messenger’s creator.
