PKO Bank Polski Hosts Virtual Job Fair in Decentraland for IT Professionals

PKO Bank Polski decided to hold a job fair in Decentraland for the sake of finding IT professionals

Polish bank PKO Bank Polski is holding a virtual job fair called Virtual PKO Rotunda in the virtual reality (VR) project Decentraland from May 30.

This was announced by the financial institution in a press release.

Bank’s head of strategic development Katarina Dziwulska said the bank wants to expand its presence in the virtual economy market with VR projects.

The bank also said it would like to cooperate with IT companies that would help it develop and maintain virtual sites in Fortnite and Roblox.

PKO Bank Polski also expressed interest in the blockchain project The Sandbox.

According to Dzivulska, the bank wants to offer its clients new forms of interaction through the above platforms.

Exactly how the bank wants to create products in the Fortnite video game, which is radically different from blockchain sandboxes, is unclear.

In the meantime, the virtual real estate market is skyrocketing. As the editorial board previously wrote, virtual land prices have fallen 90% from the highs reached in 2022.

The biggest drop from the peak was at Somnium Space, where land values fell by 93.9%. In second place was Project Voxels, where virtual real estate fell in price by 93.8%.

Investors who bought virtual land in The Sandbox in 2022 lost about 89.8% of their investment.

Land prices in Decentraland fell 87.8%, and the Otherdeeds project from the creators of the acclaimed NFT collection Bored Ape Yacht Club brought its investors a loss of 85.5%.

Partner at venture capital firm King River Capital Zeb Rice believes that from an investment perspective, virtual lands are not of interest to venture capital firms.

He noted that far more activity can be found in cryptocurrency projects than in empty virtual worlds.
