Anthropic releases Claude 3.5 Sonnet to rival OpenAI’s GPT-4o

Anthropic has just released their latest model, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, aiming to compete with OpenAI’s GPT-4o and Google’s Gemini 1.5 Pro. This new AI chatbot is touted as Anthropic’s most intelligent model to date and is the first of their upcoming Claude 3.5 range.

Similar to ChatGPT and Gemini, Claude is a generative AI chatbot that has gained considerable popularity for its ability to mimic human conversations and perform tasks such as writing poetry or code. However, Anthropic claims that Sonnet surpasses its competitors in key benchmarks such as coding, math, and reasoning.

According to Anthropic, Sonnet is not only faster and more efficient but also possesses a keen sense of humor and an exceptional understanding of complex instructions. In addition, Sonnet excels in tasks requiring visual reasoning, such as interpreting charts, graphs, or transcribing text from imperfect images.

Anthropic plans to release more advanced models, Claude 3.5 Haiku and Claude 3.5 Opus, later this year. Users can try out Sonnet for free on the Claude.ai website and iOS app. Subscribers to Claude Pro and Team will have access to Sonnet with higher rate limits. The chatbot can also be accessed through Anthropic API, Amazon Bedrock, and Google Cloud’s Vertex AI.

In addition to Sonnet, Anthropic has introduced a new feature called Artifacts. With Artifacts, users can ask the Claude chatbot to generate text documents, code, mermaid diagrams, vector graphics, and even games. These artifacts appear alongside the chat conversation, creating a dynamic workspace where users can collaborate and integrate AI-generated content into their projects and workflows.

Anthropic’s impressive growth and development have been supported by major tech giants like Google and Amazon, with the company securing $7.3 billion in funding over the past year, including a significant investment of $4 billion from Amazon.

Overall, Claude 3.5 Sonnet represents Anthropic’s latest leap in push towards creating more intelligent and versatile AI models that can enhance various domains and industries.
