Interactive Brokers Brings Crypto Trading to UK Customers

Interactive Brokers (Nasdaq: IBKR) has expanded its services in the United Kingdom by introducing cryptocurrency trading for its customers. Through a partnership with Paxos, the brokerage now allows investors in the UK to trade Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Bitcoin Cash. This expansion enables users to trade cryptocurrencies alongside other asset classes from the same brokerage account. With low fees and no additional charges, Interactive Brokers aims to provide enhanced flexibility for UK clients to invest in digital assets. The platform, which already offers cryptocurrency trading in the US, first launched its crypto services in September 2021 in collaboration with Paxos. Additionally, Interactive Brokers permits its customers to invest in approved Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) regulated by the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Its overall revenue for 2023 experienced a significant increase of 42 percent to $4.3 billion compared to its competitors.
