Rarimo’s Worldcoin Alternative RariMe Goes Live

Rarimo, known for its involvement in launching an anonymous blockchain-powered referendum on the legitimacy of Vladimir Putin’s election victory, has now introduced RariMe. This new app, which went live on Thursday, serves as a competitor to Worldcoin and offers users a way to generate passport zero-knowledge proofs (ZKs) that verify their uniqueness while protecting their identity. Unlike Worldcoin’s use of orb technology to scan eyeballs, Rarimo utilizes smartphones to scan passports for verification purposes. By using ZKs, personal data is not shared while identities are confirmed. Rarimo’s Director, Kitty Horlick, noted that decentralized applications (Dapps) can now employ proof of citizenship or proof of age by simply requesting these proofs. Rarimo plans to demonstrate the capabilities of its app by conducting programmable airdrops using passport ZKs specifically targeted to citizens of certain countries. The co-founder of Rarimo provider Rarilabs, Lasha Antadze, emphasized the importance of privacy in online spaces and expressed the desire for RariMe to enable users to interact anonymously across Web3.
