Samsung Electronics Bans Chatbots After Source Code Leak

  • Samsung Electronics also banned all chatbot analogues
  • The reason was the recent leak of the source code

Samsung Electronics has banned employees from using ChatGPT and other AI programs. First of all it concerns working devices.

But they recommend that staff also limit the use of neural networks on personal devices. And if working with them, not to tell chatbots their profession or disclose any proprietary information.

The ban was issued after an employee uploaded confidential source code to the ChatGPT platform.

Samsung declined to say what code was shared. But they are concerned that users can send data to AI platforms.

These systems store information on external servers. Once downloaded, such data is difficult to retrieve or delete.

“We ask that you strictly adhere to our security policies.. Failure to do so may result in a leak or compromise of company information.

This threatens disciplinary action up to and including termination.”

Last month, Samsung conducted a survey about the use of AI tools within companies. It found that 65% of respondents considered such platforms a security threat.

The Korean giant is preparing an infrastructure that will allow employees to use such tools securely in the future. But for now, they will have to comply with the proposed restrictions.

In the meantime, IBM plans to replace 7,800 of its employees with artificial intelligence.
