Vanguard Said Set to Name Bitcoin-Friendly Ex-BlackRock Exec as CEO: WSJ

Vanguard is reportedly set to appoint a former executive from BlackRock, who was involved in the launch of the firm’s bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF), as its new CEO, according to sources familiar with the matter cited by the Wall Street Journal. Salim Ramji, who left BlackRock in January to explore new opportunities, oversaw the filing and logistics for the iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT). This unexpected choice has led to speculation that Vanguard may change its negative stance on bitcoin. Ramji has previously expressed his interest in digital assets and blockchain technology, which has sparked excitement around his appointment. If confirmed, this will be the first time Vanguard hires a CEO externally.
