Vitalik Buterin’s South Korean Visit Has Nation’s Crypto Community Buzzing

Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, made a visit to South Korea recently, which has sparked excitement within the nation’s crypto community. Buterin was in South Korea to attend various events, including an Ethereum conference. However, crypto enthusiasts were thrilled to spot him walking the streets of Pangyo, a tech-focused town, and even working in a local cafe. The Ethereum co-founder delivered a keynote speech at ETH Seoul 2024, hosted by gaming giant Neowiz. Buterin’s extended stay in Pangyo, home to tech giants like Ahnlab and Naver, caught the attention of South Korean crypto enthusiasts who shared their sightings on social media. This visit is Buterin’s longest in South Korea yet, as he also attended the BUIDL Asia 2024 event in Seoul. Ethereum enjoys great popularity in South Korea, with senior judges even declaring their ETH holdings. During his previous visit in 2019, Buterin emphasized the inseparability of blockchain technology and cryptoassets, contrary to the government’s efforts to promote “crypto-free blockchain” policies at the time.
