XRP Ledger Celebrated Its 12th Birthday

XRP Ledger Marks Its 12th Anniversary

XRP, renowned as one of the leading cryptocurrencies, recently celebrated its 12th anniversary on June 2nd. This significant milestone commemorated the day in 2012 when Arthur BRITTO, co-founder of Ripple Labs, released the code responsible for the creation of 100 billion XRP tokens. However, due to an unfortunate bug, the earliest days of the XRP Ledger were lost, making it traceable only back to December 2012 instead of its true inception.

David SCHWARTZ, Ripple’s Chief Technology Officer, joined forces with Ripple co-founders Arthur Britto and Jed McCaleb in late 2011. Schwartz’s very first commit occurred in November of that year. Earlier in 2021, the XRP Ledger experienced a noteworthy update with the introduction of its Automated Market Maker (AMM) feature. Ripple CEO Brad GARLINGHOUSE expressed his enthusiasm for this new addition.

Recent reports reveal that the total amount of locked XRP has surpassed the five-million mark, while the number of active liquidity pools has now exceeded 500.
