Lightning Labs introduced tools to support the Bitcoin network in AI projects

Lightning Labs, the company behind the second-level Lightning Network solution, unveiled a set of tools that will make it easier for AI systems to work with the Bitcoin blockchain and the Lightning Network itself.

The developers noted that the emergence of ChatGPT has stirred up a huge wave of interest in artificial intelligence (AI) applications. That’s why Lightning Labs decided to make it easier for developers of such projects to access the first cryptocurrency network and, especially, payments through the Lightning Network.<br

“The successes of AI applications are great, but the current billing paradigm could hinder the further development of such projects. So it makes more sense for developers to switch to a globally available and almost instant payment system based on Bitcoin and Lightning than to use traditional fiat payments,” Lightning representatives write.

The company also noted that “AI agent” groups are growing rapidly now, and it’s difficult for them to access traditional payments in many countries.

The toolkit itself is built around the L402 protocol. This is the authentication mechanism for Lightning and Langchain. The new libraries add support for external data and APIs, which gives more advanced capabilities for AI to work with blockchain.

It was recently reported that mining firm Satoshi Spain has repurposed its equipment for the needs of AI.
