“According to the law, the NBU should launch a pilot project in 2024, but we want to do it already in 2023. Therefore, communication has begun with the National Bank and business,” Fedorov said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine
The minister said that he called on the NBU to speed up the process of developing the state digital currency.
“The project is developing, recently presented an electronic hryvnia based on the Stellar product. They developed the first transactions on the blockchain,” the minister said.
In November, the NBU announced that the use of the state digital currency by individuals and legal entities should be convenient and affordable.. The bank positions the e-hryvnia as an electronic form of the national currency of Ukraine, which is actually a direct financial obligation of the central bank. Deputy Chairman of the NBU Oleksiy Shaban assured that the development and implementation of the e-hryvnia could be a new step in the evolution of the payment infrastructure.
