Shibarium Testnet Chain ID Matches Rinia Testnet – Concerns Raised by Shiba Inu Community Member

In the official Discord channel of the Shiba Inu community, a user going by the name Steve has made a discovery regarding the Shibarium blockchain identifier (Chain ID).

According to Steve, the Chain ID used in Shibarium beta testnet matches that of another blockchain called Rinia TestNet.

This has raised concerns as analysis of the beta testnet code showed that the developers may have copied the genesis file of the Rinia testnet, which could lead to issues with the functionality of Shibarium.

Steve is outraged by the fact that the developers have used an existing Chain ID, as it is the first thing any blockchain developer would check when deploying a new network.

This kind of incompetence can result in a chain that does not work correctly, and anyone who tries to interact with it will instead be interacting with a completely different chain.

Although some members of the Shiba Inu crypto community have different opinions on the issue, most consider it a minor error that can be easily corrected if given due attention.

Andrew Angrisan, a Shiba Inu community member who is also a crypto-security engineer, has pointed out that the similarity between Rinia and Shibarium’s code is due to both developers using the same open source code.

He explains that using each other’s work to solve routine tasks is a common practice among coders. In this case, both Rinia TestNet and Shibarium have copied open source code for their block explorers, which are available as ready-to-use Blockscout libraries.

It is worth noting that cybersecurity experts at Halborn have identified critical vulnerabilities in the code base of more than 280 open source blockchain networks, which put over $25 billion worth of digital assets at risk.

It is, therefore, crucial for developers to exercise due diligence when creating new blockchains and thoroughly test their code for any potential vulnerabilities or errors.
