Binance CEO Supports US Presidential Candidate Opposing Cryptocurrency Prohibition

The CEO of Binance has expressed support for the possible Republican presidential candidate of the U.S. for his intention to oppose any form of cryptocurrency prohibition.

Speaking at an open internet event on Twitter Ask Me Anything on Wednesday, May 31, CEO of major cryptocurrency exchange Changpeng Zhao said he appreciates and welcomes open support for the crypto industry from Florida governor and U.S. presidential nominee Ron DeSantis.

Commenting on DeSantis’ decision to run for president and the possible likelihood of winning the election, Changpeng Zhao said “that would be fine.”

Ron DeSantis officially announced his participation in the presidential race on May 24.

In his keynote address, the candidate announced about his plans to “lead a great American comeback and restore economic sanity,” including supporting citizens’ bitcoin rights and banning the digital dollar (CBDC).

Earlier on Twitter, the MicroStrategy executive initiated a widespread poll on whether U.S. presidential candidates should support people’s right to use cryptocurrencies.

As of May 31, 31,200 Twitter users had participated in the survey. Of those, 83.8% said yes.
