Blockchain company Ozys accused its ex-top manager of having connections with hackers from North Korea

The former information security director of the South Korean company Ozys came under suspicion of contravening official duties and assisting hackers of the North Korean group Lazarus.

Ozys, a company specializing in networking solutions and blockchain technologies, has announced that its former CEO secretly weakened the company’s firewall a few days before resigning, in clear violation of his obligations.

Consequently, Ozys’ network equipment has become vulnerable to cybercriminal attacks, enabling hackers to breach the security system and pilfer over $81 million in the Orbit Bridge internet protocol.

In response, the company has filed a claim for damages with the Seoul Southern District Court, while simultaneously urging the National Police Agency to investigate the ex-employee’s potential involvement in the Ozys hack and scrutinize his connections with the Lazarus hackers.

On New Year’s Eve, the South Korean cryptocurrency platform Orbit Chain fell victim to a hacker attack, resulting in the theft of crypto assets valued at more than $81 million.
