CEO of Google DeepMind said that their new algorithm will surpass ChatGPT

  • The company is working on a system called “Gemini”
  • It is currently in development
  • This process could take months and cost millions of dollars

The CEO of Google DeepMind, Demis Hassabis, said that they are working on a new artificial intelligence system called “Gemini” that will be more powerful than the algorithm used in OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Gemini is a large language model that is currently under development. It has similarities with GPT-4, which is used in ChatGPT. However, Hassabis notes that their team will combine this technology with the methods used in AlphaGo in order to give the system new capabilities, such as planning or problem solving. AlphaGo is an artificial intelligence program developed by DeepMind AI Labs that made history by defeating the champion board game Go.

“You can view Gemini as combining the strongest aspects of systems like AlphaGo with the outstanding language capabilities of large models. On top of that, we also have some new innovations that will be very exciting,” Demis said.

He added that Gemini development is still ongoing and will take several months.. The approximate cost of the process can be in the tens or hundreds of millions of dollars. According to Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, it cost more than $100 million to create GPT-4.
