Hackers withdrew at least $1 million from the crypto exchange Cypher

Cryptocurrency exchange Cypher said it was hacked by unknown attackers. According to analysts, the damage could be as much as $1 million.

“Cypher faces a hack.. Smart contract frozen. The team is currently investigating the incident,” the company officials said.

The exchange team has separately reached out to the attackers.

“Hackers, would you be willing to talk to us about possible next steps?” – the official message reads.

According to analysts at Web3 security firm Beosin, a hacker or hackers could/were able to withdraw up to $1 million in cryptocurrency. The hacker’s wallet was funded earlier from centralized crypto exchanges KuCoin and Binance, security experts found out. Analysts at DeDotFi found that a wallet associated with the hack stole 38,350 SOLs and 123,184 USDC.

Meanwhile, the anonymous attacker behind the theft of crypto assets from DeFi’s Curve Finance protocol, as well as the Metronome and Alchemix projects, has returned some of the stolen funds after negotiations. The hacker asked the team of the Alchemix project, which was one of the victims of the hack, to confirm the protocol address where he could return the assets. Shortly after, an unknown person transferred nearly $10 million in ether and alETH to the Alchemix wallet in multiple transactions.

Earlier, the Arkham Intelligence platform announced a $46,000 reward for accurate information about the attacker who was involved in the November 2022 hack of the FTX exchange.
