Head of Thodex says he is not a crypto-fraudster: he was set up

  • Turkish crypto exchange Thodex hearings have begun
  • its clients lost $2 billion
  • The head of the company accuses programmers and clients themselves of fraud

Founder of Turkish crypto exchange Thodex Faruk Fetih Ozer has pleaded not guilty to fraud. The other day there was a court hearing where the businessman gave a speech.

The man said that the Thodex platform was originally created for e-commerce.. He moved into the crypto industry in 2017, when little was yet known about the technology:

“I started mobile transactions with the software developers I added to my team. My whole life has been intertwined with the digital world to set up a cryptocurrency exchange.”

According to the businessman, transactions on the cryptocurrency exchange were performed automatically, without his participation. So he doesn’t know where the money went, and he had no control over the flow of capital.

Farouk also said that when he signed up, all customers signed an agreement that management was not responsible for any damages.. And since users knew about the risk, he is not responsible for the loss.

Remind that Farouk Ozer is accused of stealing $2 billion in customer funds. This is the largest crypto scam in Turkish history. The businessman’s situation is complicated by the fact that he has long been in hiding from the authorities. The man was detained in Albania last summer and then deported to Turkey. Now the court is deciding whether Ozer is guilty of the Thodex platform debacle.
