Kursk Police on the Hunt for Cryptocurrency Fraudsters After Local Resident is Defrauded of 1.2 Million Rubles

The Kursk regional police are currently on the hunt for individuals who scammed a local resident out of 1,290,000 rubles by posing as cryptocurrency investors.

The victim, a 43-year-old man, fell prey to a standard fraud scheme when he responded to an online advertisement promising huge profits through cryptocurrency trading.

After making an initial investment of 1,000 rubles and seeing a profit in his account, the victim transferred all of his savings and even took out a bank loan and a microfinance loan secured by his car.

However, when he tried to withdraw the money, his account was blocked, leaving him defrauded of a significant amount of money.

The Kursk police have opened a criminal case under Article 159 of the Criminal Code of Russia, and if caught, the perpetrators could face a prison sentence of up to ten years and a fine of up to 1 million rubles.

This incident is just one of many similar cases of cryptocurrency fraud that have been reported recently, including a recent case in which a resident of the Krasnodar Territory lost a staggering 17 million rubles while attempting to sell their cryptocurrency.
