Media: Binance withdrew its application for a license in Austria

Binance, the largest cryptocurrency exchange, withdrew its application for a license from the Austrian financial regulator. This is reported by the news portal Finance Forward.

.

About a year ago, Binance announced that it would expand in Austria and last spring it launched Binance Austria GmbH. The exchange was planning to obtain a license for it.<br

However, according to sources, Binance decided to end its expansion in the country amid pressure from the authorities. The Austrian Financial Markets Authority (FMA) said it would not comment on the actions of individual companies. Binance also declined to provide details of the decision;

“We can’t provide details of our negotiations with regulators, but we will continue to act in accordance with our obligations wherever Binance operates,” a company spokesman said.</nbsp

Binance has already shut down its subsidiaries in the U.K., Cyprus and the Netherlands this year. However, the exchange does not exclude the possibility of a return to Europe. The company already has licenses in Sweden, Lithuania, Poland, France, Spain and Italy;

.

“In Europe, our current goal is to be fully MiCA compliant when they are introduced late next year.”

Recall that the French financial regulator has been investigating the exchange since 2022. Recently, the Financial Services and Markets Authority of Belgium (FSMA) issued an order for the immediate suspension of Binance services in the state.<br
