Multi-Million Dollar Crypto Heist and SIM Swapping Scam Unveiled

Pennsylvania attacker Anthony Falk used a SIM spoofing method to steal $20 million worth of crypto assets.

A federal court in California sentenced him to three years in prison, Crypto News reported.

A U.S. hacker reportedly tricked customer service and gained control of victims’ SIM cards, according to reports.

Anthony Falk then hacked into users’ cryptocurrency wallets and withdrew the assets.

According to the source, the hacker had accomplices Ahman Hared and Matthew Dietman. Falk pleaded guilty to the crime, after which the court sentenced him in the case.

“Falk admitted that his accomplices contacted some of his victims by phone and threatened to compromise the accounts if they did not pay,” the U.S. Department of Justice said.

A California federal court sentenced Anthony Falk to three years in prison. It also ordered him to repay $2.8 million.

Two other criminals accused of SIM swap fraud will have to pay back the rest of the funds and a $1 million home in Pennsylvania.

According to Cybernews, the hackers stole cryptocurrency from eleven victims.

Ahman Hared’s final sentencing will take place on August 31st. Matthew Ditman’s court hearing is scheduled for Oct. 12.

In October 2022, cybercriminals stole $330,000 worth of cryptocurrency using a SIM spoofing method.
