Polygon co-founder suggested deploying zkEVM validium update

  • This will increase Polygon PoS privacy while keeping costs low
  • This is possible thanks to the “validium” concept, which provides for local data storage
  • If approved, the upgrade could be rolled out as early as Q1 next year

A new proposal from project co-founder Mihajlo Bjelic appeared on the Polygon forum yesterday, June 20. He advocates upgrading the network to zkEVM validium, which would improve privacy while maintaining low fees and scalability.</nbsp;

“Given the significant impact on chain security and the many implicit benefits, we conclude that this upgrade could be critical to Polygon PoS in addressing its challenges, staying relevant and increasing value,” the proposal states.

Polygon zkEVM operates in parallel to Polygon PoS. But after the update, the first will be different from the second. The prefix “validium” refers to a data storage mechanism where Level 1 contains only validation evidence. The rest of the information will be available in a separate chain.

This will allow Polygon zkEVM validium to maintain lower fees than the solution launched in March. At the same time, it will solve certain problems of the old network with data privacy.

While it will not be a “rudiment. Bjelic said that once updated, the network will be a great solution for gaming and social projects.

But so far, this is an unofficial proposal. It could be converted to official by November of this year. If that’s the case, the update could be rolled out in the first quarter of next year.

It’s interesting that Bjelic considers the Polygon PoS update an important element of the v2.0 ecosystem.. We talked in detail about how the developers see it in a separate article.
