Reddit will release its fourth avatar collection on Polygon

  • They will be released on the Polygon blockchain.
  • The launch is scheduled for July 26 at 3 p.m. EST.

Social media platform Reddit will release a new series of Collectible Avatars on July 26th. The fourth generation, called Retro Reimagined, will be released on the Polygon blockchain and will be available for trading and third-party sales like the previous three.

The latest release of Collectible Avatars offers new designs from both established and new creators.

The company does not consider Polygon-based avatar collecting to be NFT because “cryptocurrencies are not part of the process of buying or selling them”. Instead, collection owners have the option to transfer their avatars to other accounts using Vault Wallet. However, for now, the platform does not support secondary sales of collectible avatars.

Reddit announced the launch of the new collection in early July 2022. Already in December of the same year, the platform reported a new record. Then users created 255,000 avatars in 24 hours.

Remember, in May, there were more than 10 million owners of collectible avatars on Reddit. At the time of this writing, that number has risen to more than 14 million, according to Dune:
