Ron Desantis: Joe Biden’s administration is waging war against bitcoin

  • He pledged to stop the “war” if he becomes U.S. president.
  • Desantis will also allow investment in cryptocurrencies.

U.S. presidential candidate and Florida Governor Ron Desantis said during a campaign event that he intends to end the “war on bitcoin and cryptocurrencies” by the administration of United States President Joe Biden.

“After I become president, Biden’s war on bitcoin and cryptocurrencies will stop. We will give Americans the opportunity to invest their money in this asset class. No one is going to force you to do it, if you want to do it, you can do it,” the United States presidential candidate said.

Desantis is apparently drawing attention to the recent charges that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has brought against cryptocurrency exchanges such as Coinbase and Binance. It’s worth noting that SEC members are appointed by the president, but the agency remains independent of the government, Coindesk reported.

Ron Desantis has previously said he intends to completely ban the central bank’s digital currency if he wins the election. And in May, he predicted that bitcoin would “die” if Biden is re-elected.

Remember Desantis isn’t the only United States presidential candidate who has a favorable view of cryptoassets. In late June, Robert Kennedy Jr. pledged to support bitcoin after the election.
