Tether CEO accused Circle of deceiving the US Congress

Circle’s top executive called for sanctions against Tether during a congressional hearing, prompting a fiery response from Tether’s CEO accusing Circle of spreading lies. According to CryptoSlate, Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino specifically called out Caroline Hill, Circle’s Director of Global Policy and Regulatory Strategy, for her statement linking Tether to terrorist financing. Ardoino condemned the act of misleading Congress and emphasized Tether’s commitment to combatting illegal activities in the crypto asset sector. He also mentioned that JPMorgan Chase had previously suggested that Tether might come under the supervision of the US Office of Foreign Assets Control. Ardoino attributed this to jealousy on the part of the bank, given Tether’s leadership in the evolution of financial and payment services.
