The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is looking for the Jimbos Protocol hacker

  • The team reached out to cyber detectives
  • And announced a reward for those who help find the criminal

DeFi project Jimbos has asked the US Department of Homeland Security in New York to help track down the hacker. This affiliate is a hub for cybercrime investigations using blockchain.

Remind that on May 28, Jimbos Protocol lost $7.5 million in ETH. The criminal took advantage of a vulnerability in the flash lending mechanism and manipulated price slippage in the exchange of assets.

The team had previously offered the hacker 90% of the stolen goods back and gave a couple of days to make a decision. But it still hasn’t received a response.

The developers have identified the exploit in the meantime, and they will soon publish an analysis of the attack. The project will also update a version of the protocol and provide a compensation plan for hacking victims.

“We have begun working with various law enforcement agencies – we have opened a case in the New York office of the Department of Homeland Security, and we are now opening cases in other jurisdictions.”

The New York office of the Department of Homeland Security has already identified and arrested quite a few cybercriminals. The Jimbos team is confident that their case will have an equally successful finale.

“To the intruder: We warned you.. We’d like to give you an award and focus on the protocol. Now we have turned to law enforcement to find you.”

The team also promised $800,000 to anyone who could help find the hacker or point the way to recover the stolen funds.
