FBI Issues Warning on Fake Jobs Concealing Cryptocurrency Fraud and Human Trafficking

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has issued a warning about fake jobs that disguise servitude in cryptocurrency fraud schemes.

Such jobs typically involve moving to Southeast Asia, U.S. law enforcement officials said.

Criminals are looking for tech support employees, call center workers, and even beauty salon technicians.

However, after arriving in the destination country, the applicant’s documents are taken away and forced to work in fraudulent cryptocurrencies.

“FBI warns of false job postings related to human trafficking in Southeast Asian fraudulent schemes.

The victims are held against their will, intimidated and coerced into working in international cryptocurrency investment fraud schemes,” the agency said in a statement.

The FBI is urging victims of trafficking schemes to contact law enforcement through a special online portal.

Earlier this month, it was reported that law enforcement in the Philippines took down a massive cryptocurrency fraud scheme that involved more than a thousand citizens of several countries under duress.
