China’s Crypto Buzz: CCTV Story Sparks Excitement and Anticipation

Changpeng Zhao, CEO of cryptocurrency exchange Binance, said that after China Central Television CCTV broadcast a story about cryptocurrency, “all of China is literally buzzing.”

“CCTV just aired a story on cryptocurrency.. It’s meaningful.. Chinese-speaking communities are buzzing. Historically, such events have led to a bullish trend,” Changpeng Zhao wrote on Twitter.

He added a link to a CCTV web page showing a story about a crypto machine appearing in Hong Kong that had “Buy Bitcoins” written on it.

Collectible tokens (NFTs) were also featured in the story.

The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) is going to officially allow retail investors to trade cryptocurrencies from June 2023.

Thanks to the development of the industry, the authorities of Hong Kong are going to return the region the status of the financial and cryptocurrency center of Asia.

In China itself, cryptocurrency exchanges have been banned since 2017, and any cryptocurrency has been banned since 2021.

Many of the products that Chinese residents seek access to are illegal under Chinese law.

In May it was reported that users from China, who are banned from registering with the crypto project Worldcoin, resorted to buying biometric data from third parties in Africa in the hopes of getting bonuses after the project launched.
