Argentine regulator initiates investigation into Worldcoin

  • An Argentine regulator is investigating Worldcoin’s handling of personal data.
  • A number of countries have previously questioned the legality of the project’s activities.
  • The Argentine Agency for Access to Public Information (AAIP) has launched an investigation into the legality of biometric data collection by Worldcoin. 

    According to a statement from the regulator, the investigation will analyze the company’s personal data processing activities to identify potential violations.

    The AAIP also said it would take steps to address any issues identified and ensure the company complies with security and privacy standards.

    Since its launch on July 24, the Worldcoin project has faced investigations from regulators in Germany, France, the U.K. and Kenya.

    On May 29, CertiK notified Worldcoin of a vulnerability that potentially allows an attacker to become an Orb operator by bypassing the verification process. The project team quickly resolved the issue.
