Cybernews: Data of half a million users of Russian crypto exchanges leaked to the network

In a shocking turn of events, the research group at the Cybernews portal has uncovered a massive breach of privacy affecting nine cryptocurrency exchanges in Russia. The personal data of clients has been violated, exposing them to potential risks.

According to Cybernews analysts, this incident took place approximately two months ago. The affected platforms include Sova, Coinstart, Pocket-exchange, Onemoment, Cripta, Metka, Alt-coin, Ferma, and In-to, with countless innocent users falling victim to this breach.

After conducting an extensive investigation to validate the compromised data, Cybernews analysts have confirmed its authenticity. The leaked information encompasses users’ complete usernames, credit card numbers, email addresses, IP addresses, payment or withdrawal amounts, BTCRUB handles, and other personal authentication details like the software used by customers.

The number of people impacted by this breach is estimated to exceed a staggering 500,000 victims. The Cybernews team is deeply concerned about the vulnerability of these users to fraudulent activities, including asset theft, unauthorized transactions, phishing, and social engineering attacks.

This unfortunate incident comes hot on the heels of ConsenSys analysts’ report earlier this year, disclosing that over 7,000 MetaMask users had their personal information compromised by unauthorized entities.
