The Israeli government reported the confiscation of $1.7 million in cryptocurrencies from wallets linked to the Iranian military and the Iranian-backed Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.</div

According to the Israeli Defense Minister, the confiscation of cryptocurrencies was carried out with the help of the analytical company Chainalysis. As representatives of the company stressed, this was the first case of confiscation of assets from Hezbollah and the Iranian unit of Al-Quds.

The confiscation was approved by Defense Minister Yoav Gllant a few weeks ago.. The Israeli Mossad intelligence service was involved in the operation.

“This is the first event of this magnitude where the funding infrastructure of Hezbollah and Iran’s al-Quds unit was destroyed. The terrorists used millions of dollars, but now we have those funds,” Gallant said.

The list of wallets from which funds were seized includes more than 40 addresses. The money was confiscated in the form of USDT stabelcoins on the Tron network. According to Chainalysis, the money was transferred from fiat to OTC exchanges and then to Hezbollah addresses on major cryptocurrency exchanges.

Earlier, Israel’s Central Bank proposed splitting supervisory functions among several government agencies, as well as requiring stabelcoin issuers to obtain a European license to operate.<br
