Lido Set to Launch V2 Protocol for Direct stETH:ETH Withdrawals

  • The option will launch when Lido V2 launches
  • The team announces it for May 15
  • Lido will also offer quick withdrawal in 3 days

Famous steaking platform Lido announced that the Lido V2 version will launch after voting ends. It starts on Friday, May 12th.

If there are no “surprises” and the majority vote is in favor, the vote will close Monday, May 15. After that, protocol V2 will be launched.

Recall that this version unlocks the direct output of stETH:ETH in the protocol.  And it will also offer new architecture and stacking modules.

Provider will offer access to 270,000 ETH in its storage. This will allow initial withdrawal requests without the lengthy process of exiting the validator.

In practice, this means that withdrawal requests are likely to be serviced more quickly during the first 3 days.

In comparison, on some sites you have to wait 2 weeks or longer in line for withdrawals. Lido reminded that this scheme will work if the voters approve it.

Lido is the largest liquid ETH-stacking protocol. Its total locked-in value (TVL) is $11.2 billion. For more on the new version of the V2 protocol, see here.
