Neo has recently launched a bug bounty program specifically for the Neo X TestNet, an EVM-based sidechain that aims to expand the ecosystem’s capabilities. This initiative calls upon the community to identify and report bugs, which will be classified as critical, major, or minor issues, with corresponding rewards in GAS.
The bug bounty program focuses on bugs related to the consensus layer, native bridge, and governance protocol. The severity of each bug will determine the reward, as assessed by the Neo team.
Critical bugs, considered severe and capable of obstructing the MainNet launch, can earn rewards of up to $5000 in GAS. These critical bugs encompass problems like chain hard forks, state corruption, bridge manipulation, and governance faults. On the other hand, major bugs, which may also impede the MainNet launch but are less severe, can receive rewards up to $2000 in GAS. Examples of major bugs include correctness issues, denial of service (DoS) attacks, and consensus stalls. Lastly, minor bugs, with rewards capped at $300 in GAS, encompass non-critical issues like gas fee miscalculations and lost transactions in RPC.
Those interested in participating can submit bugs through Neo’s official Discord server using the designated #open-tickets channel. Submissions must include a title, detailed description, reproduction steps, code snippets, screenshots, and an impact assessment.
