Pump dot Fun, a memecoin protocol on Solana, made headlines when its alleged exploiter was identified and arrested in London. Jarett Dunn, who goes by the online handle @STACCoverflow, was apprehended by British police following a 26-hour intelligence operation. The operation used various sources of open-source intelligence, including Instagram posts, to track down Dunn’s whereabouts. Ultimately, he was located and arrested in a room at the Middle Eight Hotel in London’s Covent Garden neighborhood. Dunn was later released on bail and is expected to appear in court in August. He is accused of exploiting admin keys to the protocol and stealing around $2 million in funds from newly launched memecoins. Despite the incident, Pump dot Fun’s team has taken steps to restore safe access and compensate affected users while pursuing the perpetrator.
