Moscow Sberbank stock exchanges promised to transfer half a billion rubles in cryptocurrency to Ukraine

The top manager of Sberbank spoke about these events at the Yekaterinburg forum “Cybersecurity in Finance”. According to Kuznetsov, front men withdraw money using some crypto-exchanges in the capital’s office center. Then these funds, the speaker tried to assure his interlocutors, are sent to some enemies of Russia. The amount of funds cashed out by such a scheme, according to Sberbank, has already exceeded 500 million rubles.

Stanislav Kuznetsov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank, told the media that the largest Russian state-owned bank has revealed record volumes of cryptocurrency transfers that go through exchangers in Moscow City.

The top manager of Sberbank made an announcement at the Yekaterinburg forum “Cybersecurity in Finance”. According to Kuznetsov, some figureheads are cashing out criminal money with the help of some crypto-exchanges in the capital’s office center.. Then these funds, the speaker tried to assure his interlocutors, are sent to some enemies of Russia. The amount of funds cashed in this way, according to Sberbank, has already exceeded 500 million rubles.

“Cashed money without presenting passports is sent to Ukraine, where it is withdrawn in any currency and used in hostilities against our country.. In September, on our “radar”, we recorded in these high-rise buildings, on these several legally operating crypto-exchanges, a record figure for transferring money to crypto-accounts in the form of bitcoins,” said the deputy head of the board.

According to Kuznetsov, the Russian authorities need to pay attention to these transfers.. At a minimum, it is worth carrying out identification of the identity of people who cash out income using cryptocurrencies.

The journalists, who happened to be next to the representative of the Sberbank management, did not ask the speaker for how long the bankers counted transactions worth half a billion rubles. And also – how exactly the specialists of the state bank realized that the transactions go specifically to support the hostilities in Ukraine, and not, for example, to the relatives of the victims.

The fact that cryptocurrency exchanges in the Moscow City office center are often used for gray cryptocurrency transfers and operations was first discussed at the end of 2021.
