Author of the bestseller “A Short History of Money, or Everything You Need to Know about Bitcoin” became an economic advisor to the National Bitcoin Office of El Salvador (ONBTC).

“Great things had to happen. Welcome to the winning team, Dr. Ammus!” reads the official message from the ONBTC office.

Saifedean Ammous  (Saifedean Ammous) recently traveled to El Salvador to lecture students who are participating in an educational project developers program for Bitcoin and Lightning networks.

The writer met with President Naib Bukele and shared his thoughts on the “benefits of economic freedom policies,” according to the state office.

Ammus declined any remuneration for his new job, saying he was only interested in supporting Buquetlet’s bold policies on economic freedom and bitcoin as a means of payment.

El Salvador adopted bitcoin as legal tender in the fall of 2021. And recently Bukele reported that the legalization of bitcoin has increased the attractiveness of the country’s tourism industry by 95%.
