Terra Luna Classic Adopts Revised Max Block Size Reduction Proposal

The Terra Luna Classic community recently voted in favor of a significant proposal aimed at mitigating the risks of peer-to-peer storm attacks on the Terra Classic chain. Esteemed developers have highlighted potential vulnerabilities within ecosystems like Cosmos, Solana, and Polkadot, and proposed initial measures to minimize the impact of such attacks.

Proposal 12094, titled “Proposal to decrease MaxBlockSize,” has successfully reached the required threshold and received official approval from the Terra Luna Classic community. The development team at Genuine Labs introduced the proposal to reduce the MaxBlockSize from 5mb to 2mb, aiming to strengthen security measures against peer-to-peer spam.

The proposal received an overwhelmingly positive response, with 99.87% of votes in favor, highlighting the importance of increasing the max block size limit to safeguard the chain. Of the 56 participating validators, 55, including notable names like Allnodes, Interstellar Lounge, Interstake One, Jesus Is Lord, Stalely, and others, voted in favor of the proposal.

Validators consider this to be the most effective interim solution until Genuine Labs devises a permanent fix. Jacob Gadikian, CEO of Notional Labs, suggested reducing the block size between 850kb and 1mb, which validators deemed a viable option.

Additionally, another proposal has been submitted advocating for a 10x increase in gas fees. It argues that the current transaction fee levels are excessively low, making attacks economically feasible. This proposal aims to address the issue by adjusting the fee structure accordingly.
