VanEck-backed NFT card game Parallel coming soon to Epic Games Store

VanEck-backed NFT card game Parallel is set to launch on the Epic Games Store, following its recent funding round of $35 million. The developers of Parallel announced that the game will be added to the lineup of video games available on the Epic Games Store marketplace. Although no specific release date was given, players can already wishlist the game on the platform.

This news comes shortly after Parallel secured $35 million in funding from investors such as VanEck, Solana Ventures, and Distributed Global. The sci-fi trading card game, which has raised a total of $85 million so far, offers players the chance to collect, trade, and engage with unique in-game assets as non-fungible tokens. The game’s storyline revolves around a strategic battle for control of Earth, set against the backdrop of a global energy crisis.

For Epic Games, Parallel represents another addition to its growing collection of crypto-related games on the platform. In December 2023, the company clarified its stance on blockchain-based games, stating that it would not prohibit them on its platform. This move came after blockchain games were previously labeled as “Adults Only” by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB).

Overall, the addition of Parallel to the Epic Games Store further highlights the increasing popularity and integration of NFTs within the gaming industry.
