Poll: 92% of the world’s population is aware of cryptocurrencies

According to a survey jointly conducted by Consensys and YouGov, 92% of the world’s population has heard of cryptocurrencies. At the same time, residents from countries with unstable financial systems are most interested in keeping them.

.

The study included 15,158 people aged 18 to 65 from 15 countries in America, Europe, Asia and Africa. It turned out that 92% of participants are aware of cryptocurrencies, 31% of respondents believe that cryptoassets will be the future of digital property, and 37% of respondents view this asset class as part of the monetary system. However, only 15% of Britons and 17% of Germans agree with the latter statement.

26% of respondents consider cryptoassets to be a scam. Mostly cryptocurrencies are associated with fraudulent schemes by Americans and Brits. Nigerians (65%) and Argentines (56%) are the most interested in storing digital assets, considering them an effective means of preserving value. Analysts attributed this to the instability of local financial systems and state currencies.

The survey also touched on the environmental impact of cryptocurrencies on the planet. 57% of Brazilians believe that cryptocurrencies do not harm the atmosphere, and 25% of the French agree with them. As for the ownership of non-transferable tokens (NFT), people from Nigeria, South Africa, and Vietnam understand the NFT concept best. 76% of Britons familiar with digital collectibles have never owned an NFT, as have 24% of Vietnamese.

According to last year’s YouGov survey, residents of Saudi Arabia are also well aware of cryptocurrencies (77%), but few users trade them.<br
