Polygon Co-founder Predicts Web3 Gaming as Key Driver for Cryptocurrency Adoption

The co-founder of Polygon, an Etherium scaling solution, Sandeep Naival believes that Web3-based gaming projects will be one of the main drivers of mass cryptocurrency adoption.

During a Q&A session on the Reddit forum, Sandeep Naiwal was asked if he sees any blockchain and cryptocurrency applications “in real life,” other than trading and payments.

“I think computer games are a massive opportunity for the cryptocurrency sphere.

In the next 6-18 months, large-scale game projects with Web3 support will be launched, and I will be very interested to watch their development and adoption.

Last year, funding for Web3 games exceeded $2 billion,” the Polygon co-founder responded.

That said, Naival emphasized that it was Polygon, along with players working in the project’s ecosystem like Immutable X, that became the home for these games.

He also noted that there is nothing surprising in the large number of speculators in the cryptocurrency market – new and promising technology attracts not only talent, but also various speculators, fraudsters and criminals.

He compared the current situation to the Gold Rush and the dot-com boom.

“Cryptocurrencies are still in the early stages of development.

I don’t think there are really decentralized ecosystems other than bitcoin and Etherium.

We need a progressive decentralization of protocols and applications,” Sandeep Naival shared his thoughts.

Note that recently a popular anonymous analyst under the pseudonym Pentoshi also talked about the bright prospects of blockchain-based computer games.
