Divorce Reveals Hidden Bitcoin Cache, Husband Forced to Disclose Assets

The divorce proceedings of a New York couple who lived together for 10 years took a new turn after the wife discovered a cache of 12 BTC, which the husband intended to hide from her.

The woman, who identified herself to CNBC as Sarita, began to suspect that her husband, who earned $3 million a year, had not disclosed all of his assets.

Sarita hired a forensic accountant, who eventually discovered that her husband had failed to declare 12 BTC worth about $500,000 stored in an unknown cryptocurrency wallet.

As a result, the woman’s husband will have to part with some of his crypto-assets.

Earlier it became known that 57-year-old Las Vegas resident Brian Lee was charged with participation in fraudulent cryptocurrency scheme CoinDeal, the organizers of which managed to defraud more than 10,000 investors of $45 million.

In May, a resident of Mercer Island, Washington, was charged with fraud and misuse of $35 million by his employer, which the employee spent on unprofitable investments in cryptocurrencies.
