Immunefi: Monthly crypto market losses from hacks exceeded $126 million

Immunefi, a leading cybersecurity platform, has released a groundbreaking report shedding light on the devastating losses incurred in the cryptocurrency market due to relentless cyberattacks and hacking incidents. According to the report, the estimated total losses for the month of January this year has amounted to a staggering $126 million.

The report meticulously details 19 incidents where cybercriminals targeted various cryptocurrency projects, causing immeasurable harm. Shockingly, the cumulative damage inflicted in January 2023 was six times higher than in the corresponding period this year.

The most notable attack in January was on the renowned cross-chain bridge, Orbit Bridge, resulting in a mind-boggling theft of $81.5 million worth of cryptocurrency. Additionally, experts highlighted another significant breach on the CoinsPaid trading platform, which led to a loss of $7.5 million due to hacking. Other targets that fell victim to hackers included GMEE ($15 million), Gamma Strategies ($6.2 million), and Radiant Capital ($4.5 million).

Earlier, Immunefi had reported that the total losses suffered by crypto market participants throughout the entire year of 2023 amounted to a shocking $1.8 billion, all due to the audacious actions of hacker groups. However, PeckShield analysts provided a more alarming figure, indicating the losses to be a staggering $2.61 billion.
